Fattori situazionali e correlati individuali nella presa di decisione (2002)

Abstract

Studied the role of situational and personal factors in decision making in 100 adults (Exp 1) and 180 adults (Exp 2) in Italy. Exp 1 subjects were asked to decide on the on-line purchase of a computer based on quality and price of 2 models and, in Exp 2, to decide on the on-line purchase of a computer based on the quality and price of 3 models. The results show that most subjects select the more expensive computer which also had the higher price when given a choice of 2 but select the least expensive model which had medium quality when given a choice of 3 models, 1 of which was high quality/high price, 1 of medium quality/low price, and 1 of low quality/medium price. Results of similar experiments on the decision to purchase television sets or digital cameras on-line are described. The role of attraction, decision-making strategies, reasoning with an open mind, and other cognitive factors as well as implications for developing a decision-making theory are discussed.
